Claude Code Integrates In-Browser Functionality for Enhanced Web Interaction

Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI assistant for developers, has received a significant update with the integration of a built-in web browser. This new feature allows Claude Code to directly access and interact with the internet, enabling it to perform web-based research, navigate websites, and even fill out forms without leaving the application.
The browser functionality is presented as a separate, tabbed pane alongside the main code-editing window. This allows Claude Code to open and process documentation, design mockups, or any other web content relevant to a user’s task. The AI can then read these pages, click through links, and interact with elements on the pages.

In parallel with the browser integration, Anthropic has extended the availability of its Frontier model, Fable 5, within its subscription tiers. The model will remain accessible through subscriptions until July 19th, after which it is expected to transition to a usage-credit-based system. This is the third extension granted to Fable 5’s subscription access, indicating a potential shift in Anthropic’s product strategy or an ongoing effort to manage computational resources.
Originally slated for subscription inclusion until July 7th, Fable 5’s access has been repeatedly prolonged. This latest extension coincides with OpenAI’s general availability of GPT-5.6, which reportedly outperforms Fable 5 in benchmarks. The repeated extensions may be an attempt by Anthropic to retain users by offering continued access to a powerful model amidst competitive advancements.
Anthropic has committed to making Fable 5 a permanent fixture in its subscription plans once sufficient computational capacity is secured. Until then, the company appears to be managing access through week-to-week extensions.
