Mistral AI is significantly expanding the capabilities of its chatbot, Le Chat, by rebranding it to Vibe. This strategic renaming signifies a move beyond a simple conversational tool to a comprehensive work agent designed to automate and manage a wide array of professional tasks. Vibe aims to integrate seamlessly with popular productivity suites and development platforms, promising to handle everything from email correspondence to complex coding projects.

The evolution of Le Chat into Vibe brings a host of new features, with “Work Mode” at its core. This new functionality allows Vibe to connect with platforms such as Google Workspace, Outlook, SharePoint, Slack, and GitHub. Once connected, Vibe can independently scan inboxes, extract data from spreadsheets, compile reports, and even push content to platforms like Notion or SharePoint. Before initiating any task, Vibe presents a detailed plan for user approval, offering transparency and control over its operations. Users can also set tasks to repeat on daily, weekly, or monthly schedules, and recurring workflows can be saved as templates, similar to features introduced by Anthropic for Claude.

Coding is another key area of focus for Vibe. The “Code Mode” feature deploys programming agents within isolated sandboxes. These agents are capable of building features, debugging code, writing tests, and ultimately opening pull requests upon completion. Sessions are designed to run in parallel, persist even if a laptop is closed, and will soon be launchable directly from Slack. To further enhance the developer experience, Mistral is releasing a new VS Code extension and a CLI update that includes a /teleport command. This command allows users to move active coding sessions and their history between their local terminal and the cloud environment.

Vibe is offered in multiple tiers to cater to different user needs. The Free tier is available at no cost, while the Pro plan is priced at 14.99 euros per month. The Team plan costs 24.99 euros per user per month, and an Enterprise option is available upon request. Students are eligible for a 50% discount on the Pro plan, and the Team plan offers a reduced rate of 19.99 euros per user with annual billing. Mistral states that all plans are subject to tax.

The specifics of usage limits for each tier are not entirely clear, with Mistral providing comparisons to the free plan rather than absolute figures. For instance, users may get “up to six times as many messages” or “up to 40 times as many image generations.” The actual limits of the free plan remain unspecified, making it difficult to gauge the precise benefits of higher-tier subscriptions. However, Pro and Team plans share identical usage quotas, with the additional cost for the Team plan (10 euros per user) going towards increased storage, domain verification, data export capabilities, and administrative tools for shared workspaces. The distinction between terms like “complex tasks” and “in-depth reasoning” is also somewhat ambiguous, though Mistral notes that its Mistral Medium 3.5 model can switch between a fast and a more thorough reasoning mode via a “reasoning_effort” parameter.

Interestingly, the name “Vibe” was previously associated with Mistral’s coding tool, which was accessible as a paid feature in Pro and Team plans since Vibe 2.0. The name has now been adopted for the entire assistant, encompassing both its conversational and work agent functionalities. The Vibe platform is accessible via chat.mistral.ai, with dedicated apps available on the App Store and Google Play. The coding interface can be found at code.mistral.ai.

Over the past year, Le Chat had already been accumulating features such as Deep Research, a voice mode, image editing, MCP integrations, and a memory function. The introduction of Work Mode and cloud-based coding agents in early May paved the way for Vibe’s comprehensive relaunch. By bundling all these capabilities under a single brand, Mistral AI is positioning Vibe as a direct competitor to agent-based offerings from major players
